Prokofiev’s classic ballet has become the favorite of children worldwide.Imaginatively scored so that each character is represented by a particular instrument, the piece provides a playful way to introduce young audiences to the orchestra AND the ballet!
This version of “Peter & the Wolf,” performed to live music played by the ODYSSEUS CHAMBER ORCHESTRA, will be narrated by Mr. Dalton Gregory, a retired elementary school principal and Denton City Councilman.“Carnival of the Animals,” one of Saint Saens’ most well-known works, is a ballet set in 14 movements, each depicting an animal or set of animals.The Orchestration, conducted by Jason Lim, is at once humorous, satirical, and virtuosic providing a perfect foundation for Racina-Torre’s choreography, which will be both classicalAND contemporary highlighting DCCB’s wide range of talent.Ms. Janet Latham, a veteran storyteller through the Texas Storytelling Festival and Tejas Storytelling Association Summer Conference, will be narrating the “Carnival of the Animals”.
With both ballets offering original choreography, original costuming, and a live professional orchestra, this production promises to keep the audience fully engaged AND enchanted!

A GIFT FOR EMMA December 5th & 6th @ 7:30pm December 7th @ 2:00pm Krum High School Performance Centre, 811 McCart St, Krum, TX 76249 Besides being the largest dance and theatrical production Denton has to offer, (the cast numbers 200+ dancers/actors of all ages), “A Gift for Emma” adds to the cultural texture of the Denton community by combining the classical heritage of ballet with the ever-changing artscape of modern/contemporary dance, the “in-your-face” style of Hip Hop, and the artistry of local designers whose props, puppets, set designs and costumes capture even the “oldest child within” and add to the special “flavor” of the production, which is in its 16th year.

COLLAGE 2014: DENTON DANCE FESTIVAL (March 21 & 22, 2014 at 8pm) Now in its 21st year, this dance production brings emerging, pre-professional and professional dancers from all genres in dance, and all locations in the area and the US to join in a two-day display of dance and the joy of movement. Hosted by Denton City Contemporary Ballet and founded by Artistic Director, Lisa Racina-Torre, this joyous celebration brings into view the delicate the delightful, the daring and damning facets of life through art. Often the stage is open to musicians, to mime experts, the artists and vocalists. Planned to accommodate the tastes of both young teens through adults, the show entertains and educates while challenging the mind and revealing the heart.
This year's guests include DCCB 2, Greenspace Dance, & Simple Sparrow Dance, along with guest performer, Yulia Ilina, formerly with the Kiev Ballet.
